Nestled below the mighty snow clad peaks of the beautiful Himalayan Dhauladhar mountain range in the North of India, Dharamsala (also known as McLeod Ganj.) is a peaceful location with an abundance of natural beauty and spiritual diversity. Dharamsala is home to His Holiness The Dalai Lama of Tibet and is a haven for yogis and travellers alike. It is a unique Buddhist enclave, seamlessly fusing Tibetan and Indian cultures – the perfect location for yogis to connect with themselves in a spiritually uplifting and inspiring location. Himalaya Yoga Valley Centre takes its name from this area where our centre began.
Location and Surroundings
Dharamsala is in the North of India, approximately a one hour flight from Delhi. When there, Himalaya Yoga Valley Centre is situated at the peaceful location of Siddharth House, just a 10-15 minute walk downhill from the main town square of McLeod Ganj. There are a number of interesting walks to nearby nearby towns (Bhagsu/Dharamkot), waterfalls and a glacier. Other activities available in Dharamsala include trekking, Vipassana meditation, cookery courses etc. Popular destinations from Dharamsala include Rishikesh, a magnet for spiritual seekers in the foothills of the Himalayas and Manali, a hub for backpacking and mountain adventures.
Accommodation in Dharamsala
When we are in Dharamsala, we run non-residential teacher training programs. There is onsite accommodation available at Siddarth House and a wide range of other options around McLeod Ganj. There are currently no teacher trainings planned in Dharamsala until early 2017 as we are committed to trainings and retreats on the Goa and Europe program until then.
