The Programme

Each day we will start with kriyas practice. On alternate days there is either a yoga asana, or meditation and pranayama practice, followed by a conscious breakfast and a lecture. In the afternoon sessions there will be a lecture and practical component of either yoga or meditation and another shorter lecture.

Week 1

Day One

Introduction to The Living World of Ayurveda and creating optimum health. Looking at the building blocks of Ayurveda and yoga – the Gunas.

Day Two

Understanding Your Constitution and an introduction to cleansing kiryas.

Day Three

The Doshas – our body type and looking at the ayurvedic approach to asana – yoga for the dosha types, yoga asana class for Vata.

Day Four

Nourishing the System – Building ojas, tejas and prana. Ayurvedic approach to breathing practices and meditation. Asana class for Kapha.

Day Five

Agni – The element of fire in our lives: fire of digestion and the fire of self enquiry – an introduction to yogic philosophy. Yoga asana class for Pitta.

Day Six

Conscious Eating for your type - balancing the Six Tastes and simple recipes.

Day Seven

Break - Time for you to relax and unwind or explore Goa.

Week 2

Day Eight

Ayurveda for Women Workshop (Hormone Balance/ Conscious Nutrition/ Times of Life/ Asana/ Meditation)

Day Nine

Ayurvedic Cleansing – Tridoshic Restorative asana class. Shodhana and Shaman Chikitsa - Treatments, detox and panchakarma. What is ayurvedic massage?

Day Ten

Ayurveda and the Mind – How we can deal with stress and anxiety through Ayurveda and yogic practices. How do different body types respond to stress?

Day Eleven

Exploring the Vaayus – Keep energy flowing. Building prana through conscious eating , asana and meditation.

Day Twelve

Rasayana and Longevity – Nourishing the Body, Mind and Soul. Physical self care methods and the ethics of yogic philosophy to help us navigate our daily lives.

Day Thirteen

Ayurveda for Men’s Health and an ayurvedic approach to Pratyahara, the most overlooked limb of yoga. Yoga, Ayurveda and interoceptive awareness.

Day Fourteen

Developing a Conversation with Your Body - Making Space for Ayurveda and yoga in our daily lives.

We’ve worked closely with the world renouned Dr Rohit Bokar and team at Ayurclinic Goa to develop this course. Dr Rohit and his team are panchakarma and yoga specialists and have been practicing in Goa for the last 12 years.

Ayurclinic are established in Arpora and Mandrem, Goa, and are regarded for delivering the most sophisticated and rewarding experience of ayurvedic treatment in Goa.

Ayurvedic Dr and Lead Teacher

Dr. Rohit was born in Goa and completed his Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S.) degree at Goa University. He practices medicine in his North Goa clinics www.ayurvedagoa.org, renowned as an Ayurvedic physician, panchakarma and yoga specialist, with over a decade of experience in these areas. Dr Rohit travels extensively around India and Europe, Consulting, studying, lecturing and conducting workshops on ayurveda, yoga and allied subjects.

Viriam Kaur

Senior Philosophy/Ayurveda teacher

Viriam has been teaching yoga philosophy for Teacher Training courses with Himalaya Yoga Valley since 2011. In 2005, she completed a Diploma in Ayurvedic Studies with the School of Ayurveda and Panchakarma in Kannur, Kerala and as well as training in Ayurvedic Yoga Massage, she holds her ITEC Diploma in Holistic Massage and Anatomy and Physiology.

Maeve O'Brien

Programme Director

Maeve is originally from Ireland , then after spending a considerable number of years in Australia now divides her time between Ireland and India. She is a 500 RYT, graduating from the 200 & 300 Hour Teacher Training with Himalaya Yoga Valley. As Program Director of Himalaya Yoga Valley (India & Europe) she is responsible for course and syllabus development.

Tony Healy

Senior yoga teacher

Tony is a highly experienced yoga teacher and has been training yoga teachers with Himalaya Yoga Valley for over 7 years. He completed a two year hatha yoga teacher training course with Yoga Therapy Ireland in 2006 and commenced yoga teaching from that point onwards. He is also a graduate of the 200 & 500 yoga teacher training courses with Himalaya Yoga Valley and has completed courses in Ayurvedic Yoga Massage, Thai massage and Reiki.
