Himalaya Yoga Valley Centre is located in a small local community in Mandrem Beach, North Goa. Mandrem is a traditional area surrounded by lots of beautiful jungle and hosts a peaceful stretch of beach. We are excited to welcome you to our beautiful training and retreat centers in Mandrem, Goa. We have two exceptional locations: Himalaya Beachside and Himalaya Hillside. Himalaya Beachside, our boutique property, just steps from the beach, offers exclusive retreats and select trainings in a charming, Indian-inspired setting. With its stunning old-world design, it provides the unique experience of practicing yoga just a short walk over the dunes to the Arabian Sea. Himalaya Hillside, where we hold our trainings and select immersions, offers modern, spacious two-story villas. Each villa features four accommodation rooms, along with a cozy lounge and balcony that opens onto a peaceful garden.

Trainees and retreat  guests stay onsite in our modern 2 story, 4 bedroom Villas, at Himalaya Hillside which are spacious and very comfortable. Our guests at Himalaya Beachside enjoy 16 rooms in a beautiful old world property with all modern comforts.

Our location

Goa lies on the west coast of India and its main attraction is postcard perfect white sandy beaches lined with coconut trees. Add in a mix of Portuguese colonial architecture, bustling markets, spice plantations, Goan hospitality and cuisine and you have a recipe for paradise.

Our Villas & Rooms

Himalaya Hillside: Each Villa has four large bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and a sprawling common-use lounge area. The villas are maintained to the highest standards, serviced daily.

Himalaya Beachside: This boutique property has 16 single, twin and shared rooms and is nestled between the beach and the river in Mandrem. It is maintained to an immaculate standard and serviced daily.

We appreciate that travel anywhere in the world can make some people nervous and it’s our pleasure to work with you from the point of application approval until you reach home to make sure you feel safe and secure for your entire experience. Traveling to India

Whilst many first time travellers to India and Asia can feel nervous at the thought of taking a trip alone, it is important to remember that we are located in an extremely safe, small and local beach village in Goa with practically no petty crime and no serious crime. 

We live in a local community who know us and love what we do and they are so proud of people coming to their village to study their culture and practise of yoga.

Door to Door

We also facilitate safe and secure travel to our centre from the airport with taxi drivers who are personally known to us and only from our village. These same drivers are available to hire throughout your stay in Goa, whether you want to visit local markets or explore other villages.

Goa is a particularly safe state in India for tourists and solo female travellers. The local community has hosted western tourists for many decades and they enjoy a respectful and peaceful relationship with their visitors. The economy depends on return visitors and the local community safeguards this custom through care and respect for all visitors.

We take your health and nutrition seriously throughout your entire stay and we understand that participating on a Yoga Teacher Training or retreat requires a lot of energy. Our restaurant prides itself on providing our guests with delicious, energising and balanced meals so you can enjoy your stay in Goa as your best self. 

With a large variety to choose from daily, you will never go unsatisfied. Our restaurant always uses fresh produce, washed twice in an all natural antibacterial solution, and will always offer vegan and gluten free options.

Getting to Goa

Goa is a popular tourist destination and there are plenty of flights in and out of Goa’s airport, Dabolim (GOI). Qatar and Air India fly directly into Goa, but you may find that flying to a major Indian airport such as Mumbai or Delhi and getting an internal flight is much more economical and convenient. 

Travel in India is an excellent experience and we recommend you take time after the training to explore if you have that option. Unless you are a seasoned India traveler, we do not recommend getting buses or trains to Goa at the start of your trip. Domestic flights are extremely affordable and it is important that you arrive at your training well rested and ready for an intensive experience.

Getting to our centres

Trainees and Retreat guests are well looked after by our administration team from the first point of contact until they are settled in the surroundings of the centre. Our team will arrange airport transfers for you with one of our trusted drivers who have been with us for a long time. Your name will be on a Himalaya Yoga Valley welcome board at Arrivals

Trainees can also get taxis at the government approved taxi rank at the airport.

Our centres are approximately 90 minutes from Goa’ airport in the South and 40 minutes from Mopa Aiport in the North. We are 2 hours from the main train station Madgaon, Please search airport code GOX & GOI when travelling to Goa which will give you options for Mopa and Goa airport.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We have a number of local taxi drivers that we have known for over ten years and who we trust completely. While you are more than welcome to book your own airport transfer, we are happy to arrange your taxi to and from the airport at your request. This will be arranged in your pre-arrival documents.

We have a good high-speed wi-fi connection available in our restaurant and most places in town also have good internet connectivity. In an effort to facilitate inner reflection and morning silence, the villas do not have wifi.

There are a number of lovely laundry ladies within a 5 minute walk of the centre for off-site laundry needs.

Towels (bath and hand) are provided in the rooms and changed daily. Bedding is changed every 3rd day and rooms are cleaned daily.

As part of our commitment to reducing plastic waste we have a high energy UV water purifier and ensure that water is available to our guests 24 hours a day. We also sell aluminium water bottles in our restaurant or feel free to bring your own.

We have lockers that are provided on an individual basis.
